Third Year Students from the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA) over the weekend won two out of the four major sports in the Chancellors Trophy competition this year.
The third student played against other students who are in their first, second, and fourth years in four sports games namely: Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, and Football.
During the presentation of the awards, third-year students walked out of the university hall with two awards after winning Basketball and Football games in this year’s trophy.
Vice-Chancellor Rev. Fr. Dr. George Buleya who presented the awards on behalf of the Chancellor, Most Rev. Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa commended the students for taking part in the trophy.
Fr. Buleya expressed the need to have a social life besides hard work towards getting quality education offered by the university through various programmes.
The Vice-Chancellor also reminded the students to be disciplined when they have such activities as the university looks forward to continue holding such social activities in the future.
He then urged that the university will be taking action when a student is found to have lacked discipline when such activities are organised by the university.
This year’s Chancellor’s Trophy also witnessed games being played by both staff members and students. Other games that brought smiles to students and staff members include; Racing, Egg Race, Sack Race, Chess, and Bawo.
